CRTC Recruitment:

Reinventing The Way We Connect to Students and Families, With Your Help

We’re currently on a mission to recruit 450 freshman and sophomore students into one of the CRTC’s 11 Career Pathway programs and we need some help. During a traditional recruitment season, we reach out to students from our nine sending high schools through large assemblies, classroom visitations and open house nights. COVID restrictions, however, have boxed us into a remote environment, limiting our outreach and restricting our ability to give students an up-close look at the college and career development advantages we offer.

Over the decade from 2009-2019 our enrollment jumped 36% (while regional high school enrollment decreased by 17%), so experience tells us that there is a large pool of students out there who crave the kind of career-focused education we provide - our problem is reaching them with our message. And here’s where you can help.

As part of our recruitment process, we select student ambassadors from each program who become our marketing force, talking with prospective students and their families about how the CRTC has transformed their high school experience by connecting classroom lessons to college and career ambitions. In this year’s virtual recruitment drive we’re hoping to expand our marketing force by recruiting you to become our community ambassadors by helping us to take the CRTC message viral through social media.

Here are three things you can do to help:

Post your personal CRTC story to the Friends of CRTC Facebook site. (The best way to share is to post a 30-second selfie endorsement video)

Help us get the word out by sharing relevant CRTC Facebook and Friends of CRTC Facebook postings with your social media contacts. (Especially with those with high school aged students!)

Reach out to those with 9th-, 10th- and 11th-grade students and let them know the CRTC is recruiting for next school year. (Connect them with our website and brochure, and urge them to contact the CRTC office or talk with their school counselor for more information)

Students already are starting to apply. Some programs fill up quickly and have waiting lists, so urge interested students and families to check us out today.

High school students face some huge life decisions come graduation, and CRTC students prepare for that moment by connecting to their college and career ambitions in robust and very personal ways. Nationwide, 80% of Career and Technical Education students say their CTE classes helped them to “know where they’re headed,” and 78% go on to college full time after graduation.

Your help in spreading the word about CRTC career-focused educational opportunities will not only help our recruiting drive, but also could help another high school student gain a competitive edge as they move forward to explore their college and career ambitions.
