CRTC Welcomes New Culinary Teacher

There’s a new face in the CRTC Culinary program kitchen! After 20 years of training the next generation of professional chefs, Chef Bob McIntosh will be retiring at the end of this school year and will be replaced by a familiar figure to anyone who’s frequented our Chef-to-School nights or Fratello’s Italian Grille in Manchester.

Chef Adam Parker will be coming on board in April to work with Chef Mac through the end of the school year to ensure a smooth transition. Chef Parker, who is the former Director of Operations and Corporate Chef for Fratello’s, will take over the program full time in September.

“His years of industry experience and creativity, and his inherent nature to teach and help young professionals to grow as chefs will help to keep the Culinary program vibrant and current to industry standards,” said Chef Mac. “His passion for food will also be passed on to our students.”

As an industry partner, Chef Parker has been engaging with the CRTC Culinary & Pastry Arts program for a number of years and in a variety of ways, and he has gotten to know the current students very well. He has been part of the Culinary Program Advisory Committee (PAC) for the past three years, has hosted several Chef-to-School events (teaching students for that day and evening), and has often been a guest chef during classes.

“He’s also hosted Students-to-Work events in his restaurant and has sponsored a culinary scholarship for SkillsUSA NH competitors,” said Chef Mac. “In addition to that, he’s hired many of our students over the years and helped them grow in the industry - some who are now running their own kitchens.”

CRTC Director Steven Rothenberg said that Chef Parker’s energy and enthusiasm for working with students, and his vast industry experience makes him a good fit for the Culinary & Pastry Arts program. “Adam is a dynamo,” he said. “He is an ‘all-in’ person and will be an incredible addition to the CRTC.”

Chef Parker studied at the Culinary Institute of America, earning his Bachelor’s degree in Culinary Management as well as a Baking and Pastry certificate. He has worked in a number of high profile restaurants and resorts in New Hampshire, New York and Florida, and in 2014 was named a Top Ten Chef in the Northeast by Condé Nast Traveler Magazine. He is a current member of the New Hampshire Lodging & Restaurant Association’s board of directors, and also serves on the board for SkillsUSA New Hampshire.

“I’ve spent my entire professional life dedicated to learning the culinary arts, and nothing brings me more joy than sharing this knowledge with others,” Chef Parker said. “Having an opportunity to reach young people through food, and helping them to gain an understanding of how they learn best, is one of my greatest passions. I will continue to carry on this devotion at the CRTC!”
